On specific features of the magnetic phase transition in chromium chalcogenide spinels

Description
The magneto-concentration diagram of the magnetic phase transition of semiconducting chalcogenide spinels CdCrsub(2)(Ssub(x)Sesub(1)=-x)sub(4) is determined on basis of a complex investigation of their magnetic and nonmagnetic properties. It is shown that for composition for which 0.6 < x < 0.7 the transition changes from one of the first kind to a transition of the second kind. The magnetic phase transition of the first kind may be due to the presence of exchange striction
