Description
Recent results from the ARGUS e+e- experiment indicate substantial Bd0(anti bd)-anti Bd0(banti d) oscillations with vertical strokeδmvertical stroke/Γ = 0.73 ± 0.18 for this system, compared with earlier theoretical estimates of order 0.3, based on a top quark mass of about 40 GeV. We show that the standard theoretical analysis can accommodate the experimental value of vertical strokeδmvertical stroke/Γ without requiring a very heavy top quark. There is also consistency with the UA1 result on B-anti B oscillations in panti p collisions. (orig.)
