Description
To improve application of Geant 4 simulation package in the field of Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) analysis, we implemented a set of new physics models based upon theoretical and semi-empirical calculations of atomic shell ionization cross sections. Those models provide, for any projectile/atom combination, from the so-called ECPSSR theory, and from Paul's data-driven semi-empirical method, calculation of ionization cross sections. Our validation approach is based upon comparative examination of Geant4-simulated and experimental data. Geant4-data of K-shell ionization cross sections produced by the implemented ECPSSR and Paul's models were compared with experimental ones. (author)
