Description

This study aimed to characterize the microstructure of commercial Ni-Cr alloys for dental prosthesis, with special focus on those containing Be. For this, the materials were characterized in terms of chemical composition, phases and melting point temperature. The following techniques were used: X-ray fluorescence, ICP-OES, scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis. The results clearly showed the presence of a typical eutectic, formed by the Niss and NiBe phases in those alloys containing Be, which can be considered a 'fingerprint' of the presence of this element in these alloys.
