Seismic assessment and upgrading of the Paks nuclear power plant. Keynote address
Description
A comprehensive programme for seismic assessment and upgrading is currently in progress at Hungary's Paks NPP The re-evaluation of the site seismic hazard has already been completed. The technology of safe shutdown and heat removal is established and the systems and structures relevant to seismic safety are identified. Seismic instrumentation has been installed. The pre-earthquake preparedness and post-earthquake actions are described. The easy to perform upgrading, covering the most urgent measures, has already been implemented. The seismic capacity evaluation and the design and implementation of upgrading measures are currently in progress. (author)
