A Finite Element Model for convection-dominatel transport problems
Description
A new Protev-Galerkin Finite Element Model which automatically incorporates the search for the appropriate upwind direction is presented. It is also shown that modifying the Petrov-Galerkin weightin functions associated with elements adjascent to downwing boudaries effectively eliminates numerical oscillations normally obtained near boundary layers. Apresenta-se um novo modelo de elementos finitos, cuja formulacao incorpora automaticamente a busca da direcao de 'pwind' mais apropriada para a construcao das funcoes peso do metodo de Petrov-Galerkin. Mostra-se tambem que modificando-se essas funcoes, apenas para os elementos adjascentes as fronteiras onde ocorrem fenomenos tipicos de camada limite, consegue-se eficazmente as oscilacoes numericas que normalmente aparecem na vizinhanca dessas camadas.
