Description
A model for predicting the time-dependent release of iodine from aqueous solutions following accidents in nuclear power reactors, has been formulated, using elementary chemical reactions. The model has been used to calculate the partition-coefficients for iodine as a function of several important parameters. The importance of pH and the presence of a strong radiation field on the partition coefficient is demonstrated. (U.K.)
