Measurement of cosmic rays by the Venera 9 and Venera 10
Creators
Description
At the Venus-9 and Venus-10 measurements of the charged particles flux in the cosmic space were continued by space probes to determine the dependence of cosmic particle flux variations on the intensity of the solar activity. The cosmic rays (CR) detection was done along the route of the flight to the Venus and in orbits of the Venus satellites. A semiconductor, gas-discharge and the Cherenkov counters were used. Maximum measurement errors were +-0.008, +-0.06, +-0.03 pulse s-1 for the semiconductor, gas-discharge and Cherenkov counters, respectively. Certain specific features of galactic CR are noted as a result of the data analysis. The modulation of the galactic CP spectrum occurs almost independently in different energy intervals, although the long-time intensity changes are frequently synchronous. It is also noted that during the period near the solar activity minimum inhomogeneities of the interplanetary space manifest themselves leading to considerable variations of the spectrum of galactic CR's
