An empirical equation to predict third phase formation limits in the extraction of Th(NO3)4 by tri-iso-amyl phosphate (TiAP)

Description
The data on the Limiting Organic Concentration (LOC) values in the extraction of Th(IV) by 1.1 M solutions of TiAP in various diluents are reported in this paper. The effects of various parameters like temperature, aqueous-phase nitric acid concentration and carbon chain length of the diluent on LOC values have been studied. An empirical equation has been derived to predict LOC values with respect to the above parameters for third-phase formation in the extraction of Th(IV) by 1.1 M TiAP. (author)
