The effect of the electrode material on the reaction route for the electroreduction of metal complexes, containing ligands with acidic C-H bonds. The cation of chloro-bis[bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane]-(methylinido)molybdenum, [CeMo(dppe)2NCH3]

Description
Electroreduction of molybdenum methyl-imideo complex [ClMo(dppe)2NCH3]+ (1) (dppe-bis (diphenylphosphino)ethane) has been studied by the method of low-temperature cyclic voltammetry in THF medium. It is shown that 1 is reversibly reduced to [ClMo(dppe)2NCH)3], and then its destiny depends on electrode material. On Hg and glassy carbon the complex is reduced to [Mo(N2)2 (dppe)2] and methylamine. 21 refs., 1 fig
