Description

Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. is constructing No.3 and No.4 plants adjaining to No.1 and No.2 plants in operation in Genkai Nuclear Power Station. The site preparation and revetment works were begun in August, 1985, and the excavation for building foundations and cooling water channels was started in November, 1986. As the site for No.3 and No.4 plants, the preparation of about 180,000 m2 is necessary, but as the land for the pit for cooling water intake and others, about 10,000 m2 was short, therefore, it was decided to reclaim it from sea area and build a revetment of about 300 m length. Four steel pipes of 4.5 m diameter for cooling water intake penetrate the revetment, and for constructing a water intake pit, the function of temporary coffering was given to the revetment, therefore, it has a number of the peculiarity in its design and construction. In this paper, those are described. The outline of the power station, the topographic and geological features of the site, sea condition, the design of the revetment, the construction works, the confirmation of water stopping and so on are reported.
