Description
As nearly all substances, mineral building materials contain also natural radionuclides as radium-226 and thorium-232. The activity concentrations of radium-226 and thorium-232 in building materials are important for the resulting radiation exposure of the inhabitants. Both natural gypsum and flue-gas desulfurization gypsum are building materials with extremely small radionuclide concentrations. With the view of radiation protection of the public, both have to be designated as recommendable building materials. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Mineralische Baustoffe enthalten, wie fast alle Materialien u.a. auch die radioaktiven Stoffe Radium-226 und Thorium-232. Die Aktivitaetskonzentration des Radium-226 und Thorium-232 in Baustoffen sind entscheidend fuer die resultierende Strahlenexposition der Bewohner. Sowohl Naturgips als auch REA-Gips sind Baustoffe mit sehr geringen Radionuklidkonzentrationen. Vom Standpunkt des Strahlenschutzes der Bevoelkerung aus sind beide als empfehlenswerte Baustoffe zu bezeichnen. (orig.)Additional details
