Evolution of oscillations of semi confined electron plasma

Description
The evolution of an arbitrary initial nonequilibrium distribution of electrons and electric fields is investigated in a structure consisting of a semi confined plasma and dielectric (vacuum). The comprehensive spectrum of potential oscillations of electric fields is obtained. It is shown that a set of the frequency eigenvalues is determined by the properties of the electron distribution functions in equilibrium and disturbed states. In a cold plasma there are volume and surface oscillations with the Langmuir frequency along with the surface plasmons, but in a dielectric only surface plasmons occur. In the presence of a spatial dispersion all the types of volume and surface oscillations propagating in the plasma are radiated from it to the dielectric. In the plasma, besides the field of these oscillations, an electric field of anomalous penetration exists which is due to the effects of ballistic transport of conduction electrons at low temperature. For the cold plasma, the delay effects are taken into account, and for the dielectric, the time and spatial distribution of fields are found out
