BRST extensions of a Lie group

Description
Gauge theories may possess global symmetries besides their local gauge invariances. The algebra of the BRST-invariant extensions of the global symmetry generators is investigated in the general case of an open gauge algebra. It is shown that the BRST-invariant generators yield a 'BRST representation' of the Lie algebra of the global symmetry group, with a possible non-trivial 'BRST extension'. The particular example of the group case (closed gauge algebra) is explicitly worked out. (orig.)
