Spin transfer in reactions between heavy ions

Description

The model presented affords a better understanding of the manner in which the orbital angular moment can be converted into an intrinsic spin in the collision between two heavy ions. After referring to the vector fields and the collective energy of a spheroidal nucleus, the calculation of the exchange of nucleons is described and the dissipation function is constructed. The spin transfer and the reorientation of the spin during the reaction are then examined (effect of friction and vibration). The estimated calculations are compared with the results of the 63Cu+197Au and 86Kr+209Bi experiments. The sensitivity of the calculation to the parameters of the model is discussed (nuclear potential, vibrational inertial parameter)

Abstract (French)

On presente un modele qui permet de mieux comprendre la facon dont le moment angulaire orbital peut etre converti en spin intrinseque dans la collision de deux ions lourds. Apres quelques rappels sur les champs de vecteurs et l'energie collective d'un noyau spheroidal on expose le calcul de l'echange de nucleons et on construit la fonction de dissipation. Le transfert de spin et la reorientation du spin au cours de la reaction sont ensuite examines (influence de la friction et de la vibration). On compare les previsions du calcul aux resultats des experiences 63Cu+197Au et 86Kr+209Bi. On discute la sensibilite du calcul aux parametres du modele (potentiel nucleaire, parametre d'inertie de la vibration)
