Session 136 - Roundtable: IAEA Modaria II Report on Risk Informed Decision Analysis Stakeholder-engaged through Case Studies of Legacy and NSRM Site
Description
This roundtable discussed the recently completed work of Working Group 1 of the IAEA Programme on Modelling and Data for Radiological Impact Assessments (MODARIA II). It deals with a framework for integrating radiological risk assessment and decision analysis for legacy and NORM sites. A specific focus of this integration is on providing awareness of the needs and expectations regarding risk assessment results in the larger decision context. This framework is demonstrated by three case studies for which existing exposure situations needing remediation have used or could use this approach to support risk-informed decision-making, a key component of any program for the management, remediation and D and D of nuclear legacy and NORM sites. Panelists with presentations: IAEA MODARIA II WG1 Report Risk Informed Decision Analysis Stakeholder-engaged through Case Studies of Legacy and NORM Sites (Ming Zhu, US DOE (USA)); Summary of IAEA MODARIA II Programme WG 1 Outcomes - Focus and Objectives (Paul Black, Neptune and Company, Inc. (USA)); Summary of IAEA MODARIA II Programme WG 1 Outcomes - Overview of Case Studies (Alan Paulley, Quintessa Ltd. (United Kingdom)); Assessment of Tessenderlo Site using AMBER (Louise Bruffell, Quintessa Ltd. (United Kingdom)); Model Comparisons (Sam Van Sickle, Neptune and Company, Inc. (USA))
