Mechanical properties and acoustic parameters tubes of zirconium alloy Zr1%Nb with a protective coatings

Description
The results of studies of the ion-plasma coatings effect on the mechanical properties and acoustic parameters of the samples cut from tubes of fuel from zirconium alloy Zr-1% Nb are given. Ring samples were tension tested at room temperature in radial direction. It is shown that the deposited coating substantially affect on the strength and plastic properties of the samples. It is found that the ultimate strength increases from 15.5 to 16.5%, and the yield strength from 8 to 12.5% for the coated samples 18Cr10NiTi, Cr/CrN, TiN. CrAl; CrAl/CrN and ZrN coatings retain plasticity (or giving a slight increase it). CrAl, CrAl/CrN and 18Cr10NiTi coatings have the best combination of mechanical properties. The functional state of protective coatings in the field of elastic and plastic deformation using amplitude analysis recorded during the test AE signals was done
