Fuel assembly

Description

The fuel assembly of the present invention is used for a BWR type reactor. The fuel assembly has a rectangular shape and comprises a channel box, a plurality of fuel rods and one water rod. The fuel assembly has a volume ratio of water to fuels of about 3.2, and constitutes a system having a soft neutron spectrum. The fuel rods include those having an outer radius of 6.3mm and loaded with plutonium fuels and those having an outer radius of 6.1mm and loaded with plutonium fuels. The enrichment degree of the fissile plutonium is 3.5w/o with enrichment to natural uranium. Fuel rods having a larger radius, compared with other regions, are used at a portion near gap water at the outside of the channel box where the power tends to be high. With such a constitution, the power distribution in the fuel assembly can be flattened without lowering fuel economy. (I.N.)
