Method of manufacturing fine lithium titanate sintered particle

Description

Fine lithium titanate sintered particles effective as a tritium breeding material of a thermonuclear reactor are manufactured stably in the present invention. A material powder is dispersed in an aqueous solution of a high polymer resin compound to form a stock solution for dropping, and it is added dropwise into a liquid bath to form granular shapes. At the same time, the droplets in the form of granular shapes are brought into contact with the liquid bath to gel an aqueous solution of high molecular resin compound thereby obtaining wet gel spheres. They are calcined, after being dried to remove the high molecular resin compound, and sintered to obtain fine titanate sintered particles finally. With such a constitution, the particle size can be controlled easily, and a great amount of particles of a fine size can be produced easily. (T.M.)
