Global distribution of uranium ores and potential UK deposits

Creators

  • 1. Strathclyde Univ., Glasgow (UK)

Description

The development is described of uranium in four main categories of deposit: ie, sandstones, conglomerates, vein-type deposits, and other various types of concentrations. Potential deposits in the UK are summarised. It is shown that world reserves and estimated additional resources are adequate to about 1990; but thereafter new discoveries will be required. Meantime an active R and D program aimed at discovering hidden ore bodies with no gamma radiation at surface, is essential. (U.K.)
