Description
The Dense Magnetized Plasma concept is given and its more widely used form (Z-pinch) is described. The notion of equilibrium Z-pinches is discussed including some recent ideas on the modifications of such notions when taking into account anomalous resistivities originated in lower hybrid drift microinstabilities. Macroscopic instabilities of Z-pinches are also discussed and their effects on these devices. (authors)
