Estimation of the radiation exposure of the general public due to radon and its short lived decay products in German houses and in outdoor air
Description
One of the most important sources of radiation exposure for the general public is the inhalation of radon and its short lived decay products in houses. On the behalf of the Federal Minster of Interior of nation wide radon survey was carried out in 6.000 German houses. As result of more than 20.000 single measurements median values for indoor and outdoor radon concentration of 40 Bqm-3 and 14 Bqm-3 were found. In this report measurement techniques as well as the results of the measurements are presented in detail. (orig.)

Die Inhalation von Radon und seinen kurzlebigen Zerfallsprodukten in Wohnhaeusern fuehrt zu einer der bedeutendsten Strahlenexpositionen der Bevoelkerung. Im Auftrag des BMI wurden bundesweite Radonerhebungsmessungen durchgefuehrt. Dabei wurden bei mehr als 20.000 Einzelmessungen in ca. 6.000 Wohnungen als Medianwert der Radonkonzentration 40 Bqm-3 und im Freien 14 Bqm-3 ermittelt. Im Bericht werden die verwendeten Messverfahren und die erzielten Ergebnisse ausfuehrlich dargestellt. (orig.)
