The author highlights the contacts between the International Radiation Protection Commission and Chinese radiation protection community, elucidating the impact the ICRP has had on radiation protection development in the country from multi-perspectives. It is indicated over the past four decades that establishing and strengthening the ties with the ICRP will facilitate and prompt the round development of radiation protection work in the country
