Improvements in or relating to radiography

Description

A novel form of computerised axial tomography scanner is described in detail. The objective for the device is to obtain accurate information about a selected region of the body without subjecting the patient's skin to unacceptably high radiation dosage. This is achieved using a CAT scanner which, in addition to the usual axial rotation, can tilt up to angles of 250, thus ensuring that the radiation enters the body through different areas of skin during different revolutions. Explicit details of how this is accomplished and of the data collection procedure are presented. (U.K.)
