Structure state and radiation strengthening of 08Kh16N11M3 steel of the BN-350 reactor assembly material

Description

Results of detail study of microstructure and microhardness of 08Cr16Ni11Mo3 steel (analog of AISI 315) samples irradiated by neutrons are presented. Samples have been cut from the BN-350 reactor blanket assembly, damage dose and irradiation temperature are changing within limits: 0.25-15.6 dpa and 280-365 deg. C. For study of prolonged neutron irradiation on structure and properties of steels two methodics (optical metallography and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)) were applied. About radiation strengthening value have been judged by surface microhardness value of steel samples. On the base of TEM images analysis quantitative characteristics of reveled radiation disturbances of crystal lattice for irradiated 08Cr16Ni11Mo3 steel are received in dependence on thermal assembly operation conditions. In the frameworks of disperse barriers estimation for each type of structural defects in the steel radiation strengthening is carried out
