Description

This course reviewed the adverse effects of ionizing radiation on man, the development of radiation protection criteria and standards, the administrative structure required for radiation protection and the consequences of some major radiation accidents. Overviews were given of the technical requirements for occupational radiation protection and for controlling the impacts from uses of radionuclides. Presentations were made on regulations for the transport of radioactive materials and on international resources and agreements for radiation protection. Examples of the development of codes and guidelines for specific purposes were also given. Refs., figs., tabs
