Solitary pulmonary metastasis from intracranial meningiothelial meningioma

Description
Although known, histologically proven pulmonary metastasis from a benign intracranial meningioma is exceedingly rare. We report a case of meningiothelial meningioma producing a solitary pulmonary deposit. Follow up CT and MRI scan of the brain undertaken for giddiness and weakness of left lower limb 2 years after initial presentation showed a lobulated, homogenously hyperdense enhancing mass lesion in the right posterior parietal parasagittal region with post-operative gliosis in the left parietal region. Incidentally she was diagnosed to have dilated cardiomyopathy. Chest radiograph and CT thorax showed a solitary pulmonary nodule in left midzone. Computed tomography guided fine needle aspiration cytology carried out using a 22-gauge needle of the solitary pulmonary nodule was reported to have features of meningioma with benign cytological features.
