Thermodynamics of Pu - O2 system
Creators
Description
Thermodynamic analysis of Pu-O2 system is conducted within 298-4000K interval. As a result of this analysis it is shown that PuO is produced in the system only in a gaseous state. In a condensed state this oxide can exist only in metastable state. The most stable plutonium oxides, dissociating congruently, include: plutonium dioxide - at the temperature up to 2358K and plutonium sesquioxide - at higher one. Plutonium sesquioxide boiling point equals to 4050K. PuO and PuO2 gaseous compounds appear to be the main components of the gas phase under plutonium oxide dissociation
