Description

Phase composition and crystal structure of the alloys of the part of the system Cs2S-Sb2S3 have been investigated in the concentration range 50-100 mol.% Sb2S3. There is a compound in the system, CsSbS2, which melts congruently at 400 deg C. Five alloys have been obtained by melting CsSbS2 and Sb2S3. All the alloys fall into the class of semi-conductors. They all possess exponential temperature dependence of conductivity. The dependence has been studied of electric conductivity, thermoelectromotive force, thermal activation energy, and photoconductivity on the composition of the alloys. With decreasing Sb2S3 content in the alloys, their electroconductivity falls sharply, attaining 2.10sup(-7) ohm-1m-1 at 97.5 mol.% of Sb2S3. Within the composition range from 80-100 mol% of Sb2S3 thermoelectromotive force changes non-monotonically. In the vicinity of the homogeneity region hole conductivity becomes electron conductivity, the sign of thermoelectromotive force being changed to the opposite. The alloys containing 97.5-95.0 mol.%Sb2S3 are highly photosensitive. Thus, the alloys of the system CsSb1S2-Sb2S3 are promising photoelectric materials in which a change in Sb2S3 concentration allows one to alter their parameters
