Description
Delayed fission was observed in beta-decay of 238Pa. This isotope with a half-life of 2.3 min and 2.1 MeV beta-energy was produced by the 238U(n,p)-reaction. For this purpose, neutrons with a broad energy spectrum up to 23 MeV from the reaction 9Be + d have been used. The probability for spontaneous fussion amounts to 5 x 10-8. (orig.)

Beim β-Zerfall des 238Pa wurde eine verzoegerte Spaltung beobachtet. Dieses Isotop mit 2,3 min Halbwertszeit und 4,1 MeV β-Energie wurde durch die 238U(n,p)-Reaktion hergestellt. Dazu wurden Neutronen mit einem breiten Energiespektrum bis 23 MeV aus der Reaktion 9Be + d verwendet. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit der verzoegerten Spaltung betraegt 5 x 10-8. (orig.)
