Energetics and morphology of radio tail galaxies

  • 1. University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Description

The energetics of the multiple ejection plasmon (plasmoid) model of a radio tail source is in full agreement with the observed luminosity of the entire tail for time scales required by observations of typical tail sources such as, e.g., NGC 1265. Furthermore, the inclusion of the effects of an interstellar medium as suggested by Jones and Owen assures the agreement between the observed morphological structure and that predicted by the multiple ejection plasmon model
