Three-dimensional conformal hypofractionated high-dose radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer in the elderly
Description
Objective: To discuss the effect of three-dimensional conformal hypofractionated high-dose radiotherapy on non-small cell lung cancer in the elderly. Methods: All patients were treated by the same way of fraction radiotherapy, with a prescription dose of 4-5 Gy, every other day, to a total dose of 48-55 Gy. Results: Complete response was observed in 23(51.1%) patients, partial response in 15(33.3%) patients, with the overall response rate of 84.4%. The overall 1-, 2-, 3-year survival rates were 66.7%, 48.9% and 39.1%. Conclusions: Three-dimensional conformal hypofractionated high-dose radiotherapy is safe and effective, giving mild untoward side-effects. (authors)
