Evolution of manufacturing process for CRDM translation tube- upper part for FBTR
- 1. Central Workshops, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Central Workshops of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has experiences on machining CRDM related components of various reactors including FBTR, of which, specifications for FBTR is the most stringent. This paper illustrates the development of special toolings, manufacturing processes and Inspection and quality control procedures adopted for FBTR CRDM components. The assembly consists of translation tube - upper, middle and lower parts, gripper control screw, gripper control tube sheath, tube sheaths for bellows and the gripper body. Among all the above components, translation tube- upper part required development of manufacturing process. Two pieces were successfully manufactured and installed for the CRDM of FBTR
