Activation and corrosion products transfer in loop of water cooled reactors
Creators
Description
During reactor operation the main activity source outside the core is the short-life isotopes formed as a result of intrinsic activation of water through the reactions O16(n, γ) N16; O13(n,γ)N13, etc. The activity and the rate of its accumulation in the loop depend on the kind of materials used to manufacture the heat-carrier-washed components in reactor core and outside the core, water conditions (temperature, pressure, pH, chemical additives, oxygen concentration), neutron flux in the core, velocity of the heat-carrying agent in the core, structural features of the loop, the presence of the heat-carrying agent decontamination system and its efficiency, etc. Mathematical description of activity accumulation process in the loop is presented
