The 14 GHz ECR ion source project
- 1. Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering - Horia Hulubei, PO Box MG-6, R-76900 Bucharest (Romania)
Description
A 14 GHz ECR ion source is in an advanced stage of construction at the National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Bucharest. This ECR multi charge heavy ion source is designed to be independently used in atomic physics research as well as an injector into a r.f. heavy ion linac. The general design and main characteristics of the 14 GHz ECR ion source are presented as well as the present status and the schedule of this project. A research program and facility was started in order to study physical ways to improve the ECR ions source performances. (authors)
