Mechanical neutron spectrometer Chopper - Optimal length-of-flight

Creators

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Sciences Boris Kidric, Laboratorija za reaktorsku i neutronsku fiziku, Vinca, Beograd (Serbia)

Description

Distance between the chopper and the neutron detector was calculated according to the formula L = r2/d (π - d/r) = 7.8 m, since d=1 mm, r = 50 mm. Distance L was calculated taking into account that chopper turns 180 deg having angular velocity ω during time needed for the slowest neutron to cover distance L
