Alteration of installation of reactors (alteration of No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4 reactor facilities) in Takahama Power Station, Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc
Description
The Nuclear Safety Commission reported to the Minister of International Trade and Industry on October 27, 1983, that the technical capability was recognized to be adequate, and the safety after the alteration of the installation of these reactor facilities was judged to be ensured. In No. 1 and No. 2 reactors, the degree of enrichment of replacement fuel is changed from 2.8 to 3.4 wt.%, the number of burnable poison used for replacement core is changed from up to 592 to up to 896, and the maximum linear output density of fuel rods is increased to 42.7 kW/m. The safety concerning these changes was examined. As the result, the fundamental design of No. 1 and No. 2 reactors regarding this alteration is adequate, and the safety was judged to be sufficiently ensured. As for No.3 and No.4 reactors, the safety concerning the change of the degree of enrichment of replacement fuel from 3.0 to 3.6 wt.% was examined. As the result, the fundamental design of No.3 and No.4 reactors regarding this alteration is adequate, and the safety was judged to be sufficiently ensured. (Kako, I.)
