Heat production by photons in the BNCT beam filter components in HB11 at the HFR
Description
The point-kernel shielding code MARMER has been used to calculate the heat production by photons in the filter components of the BNCT-beam at the HFR. The critical materials of the filter in relation with the heat generation are the sulphur (5 cm) and the liquid argon (150 cm). The calculated heat loads are 60 W for the sulphur filter and 96 W for the liquid argon filter (an area cross-section of 1000 cm2 is assumed for the filter components). 7 refs.; 1 fig.; 6 tabs
