Study of tellurium (4) behaviour on paste electrodes

Description

The electrochemical behaviour of Te(4) on a simple and a composite paste electrodes was studied. It can be assumed, from the tellurite reduction curve, that different products are obtained at potentials of -0.5 and -1.0 V, which behave differently when subjected to subsequent anodic oxidation. The results of the study suggest that the anode peak 2 corresponds to oxidation of elementary Te bound with the like atoms on the electrode surface, while peak 1 corresponds to oxidation of Te which is directly on the electrode surface. The results of experiments with TeO3 indicate that the first peak most probably corresponds to oxidation of Te adsorbed on graphite, while the second peak corresponds to oxidation of Te bound with the like atoms
