Description
In this work, the neutron dose was measured for 9Be (p, n) reaction at different proton energies using the REM meter. The REM meter was kept at 90 ° with respect to the beam direction at 60 cm from the 5 mm thick 9Be target. Protons having energies, 12, 15, 18 and 21 MeV were bombarded on the 9Be target to produce neutrons. A non-linear increase of neutron dose with proton energy was observed. Empirical relation was generated for determination of neutron dose from proton energy which will be useful for radiation protection of occupational workers as well as members of public. (author)
