Magnetic field annihilation in the magnetosphere and some geotechnical applications: Progress report for the period 1/1/83 through 2/28/84

Description

The contract had two objectives. The first was to learn about magnetized plasmas under a variety of magnetospheric, solar, interplanetary and astrophysical conditions in collaborating closely with fusion research physicists. The second was to study energy-related geophysical problems in the arctic environment. Particular interest has been shown for auroral effects on power transmission lines and oil/gas pipelines. 14 figs
