Description

CAT scanning with a high resolution in combination with geometrical enlargement and reduced layer density permits excellent demonstration of the anatomical patterns of the hand. Both the bones and the different soft-part tissue structures are precisely demonstrated in different planes and can be studied in detail if the appropriate window is selected. The excellent possibilities for positioning the hand permit cross-sections in three different planes - transverse, palmar and sagittal. CAT scanning in investigations of the hand is extraordinarily advantageous for identifying pathological alterations of the hand. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die Computertomographie mit hoher Aufloesung, kombiniert mit geometrischer Vergroesserung und reduzierter Schichtdicke, ermoeglicht eine ausgezeichnete Darstellung der anatomischen Gebilde der Hand. Sowohl Knochen als auch die verschiedenen Weichteilgewebestrukturen werden in verschiedenen Ebenen exakt dargestellt und koennen im Detail studiert werden, wenn man die entsprechende Fenstereinstellung waehlt. Die aussergewoehnlichen Lagerungsmoeglichkeiten der Hand erlauben Querschnitte in drei verschiedenen Ebenen - transversal, palmar und sagittal. - Die Vorteile der Computertomographie bei Untersuchungen der Hand sind ausserordentlich vielversprechend fuer die Diagnosestellung bei pathologischen Veraenderungen.
