Study of wood destructed by radiation

Description
To prove the use of iradiated wood raw material in animal feedstuff, the variations of amino acid composition in the gamma-irradiated aspen leaves (dose 0-0.9 MGy) and pine trunks, irradiated by accelerated electrons with energy 0.5 MeV (dose 0-1.0 MGy), were studied. It was found that with increasing irradiation dose, the total content of available aminoacids in aspen leaves increased, but in the case of pine trunks -decreased. Simultaneously the total content of fatty acids in irradiated pine wood increased from 1.0 to 1.2%. It is found that at room temperature the irradiated woods samples reacted with ammonia and urea, and the content of bound nitrogen in them increased several times
