A re-evaluation of piping system performance based upon hanger load test results

  • 1. AEC Engineering, Inc., Richmond, VA (United States)

Description

When performing pipe support surveys, the load and position of spring supports are recorded, providing the basis for a system analysis. Load testing of the spring supports can be done to reveal changes in the operation and supporting force of hangers. This paper will discuss the performance of a pipe support walkdown, the load testing of selected system supports, and how the test results altered the interpretation of the walkdown data and the subsequent recommendations
