Description

The 40-th anniversary of the Joint Institute of Nuclear research is widely marked in 1996. During four decades of its existence the Joint Institute made a prominent contribution to the science and technology development. Since the time of its creation on March 26, 1956 many first-rate studies were accomplished at the JINR in various areas of modern physics, accelerator and reactor technique. Numerous specialists were trained within the frames of the Joint Institute for its member-countries. 18 states are the members of the JINR. It has bilateral agreements on the governmental level with the BMBF (Germany) and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The Joint Institute actively participates in cooperation with foreign associations: CERN (Geneva), IN2P3 (France), INFN (Italy), BNL, FNAL (USA) and other scientific-research centers in many countries of the world
