Reactor disassembly activities at Three Mile Island Unit Two

Description

Since the March 1979 accident at Three Mile Island Unit Two, much research and development work has been conducted to characterize and evaluate the damaged nuclear reactor core and its systems. The following 5 years have seen a combination of existing and new technologies brought to bear towards the ultimate goals of decontamination and defueling. The techniques used and the results obtained are described. (author)
