Description

A study is made of the linear stage of the radiative Pierce instability of a relativistic electron beam (with a finite temperature T) stabilized by an infinitely strong magnetic field in a solitary resonant cavity. It is shown that, as the thermal spread of the beam increases, the instability growth rate decreases even under the condition vTe<<u
