From Leonardo to the graser: Light scattering in historical perspective. Pt. 4
Description
The life and experimental research of Robert John Strutt, fourth Baron Rayleigh, are reviewed with particular reference to his contributions to the field of light scattering by atoms and molecules. A critical discussion is given of his work on the depolarisation of light by anisotropic molecules, in relation to the studies of Cabannes, Gans, and Raman and Ramanathan on this subject
