An optimum linearized solution for a bare slab reactor having nonuniform core properties

Description

Nuclear reactors having nonuniform properties are frequently met in practice, it is necessary to describe how the critical core size and the neutron flux distributions of such systems can be determined. Since exact calculations of nonuniform reactors cannot ordinarily be performed analytically, an optimum linearized method is adopted in the present work for this purpose. The results are carried out on light-and heavy water -moderated reactors. The results of the flux distributions and the corresponding critical sizes calculated by various methods show a better agreement of the suggested optimum linearized method than other methods as compared with the numerical solution. 2 fig., 1 tab
