Description
This is the first report on 48V production by heavy ion induced reaction on natural chloride target via natCl(16O,2pxn)48V reaction. Four BaCl2 targets of 3.5 mg/cm2 thickness were irradiated with 16O beam of 45.9 MeV, 54.1 MeV, 63.4 MeV and 70.6 MeV energy. About 1 kBq yield of 48V was detected when 63.4 MeV 16O beam (total 2576 µC integrated charge) interacted with natCl target. No-carrier-added (NCA) 48V was separated from bulk Ba target by classical precipitation technique using concentrated H2SO4. Ba was quantitatively precipitated while 48V remained in the supernatant which resulted a high separation factor (∼4000). (author)
